Sports Desk – In order to give a boost to women’s cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced to organize the Women’s Under-19 World Cup for the first time in the year 2021.
The decision was taken at the ICC Board meeting held in Dubai on Monday. The Women’s Under-19 World Cup will be held every two years. Many major decisions were taken at the meeting of the highest policy-making body of cricket.
The ICC announced an eight-year cricket program from the year 2023 in which a major tournament of male and female cricket will be organized every year. Apart from this, four tournaments will be organized for under-19 male and female cricketers.
ICC President Shashank Manohar said that after considering several options, the board felt the need to organize a major tournament of male and female cricket every year, this would lead to the holding of a big tournament in addition to a bilateral cricket series in a cricket calendar year Continuity will remain and the future of cricket will be further strengthened.
The Women’s Under-19 World Cup cricket tournament will be held in Bangladesh in 2021. The ICC also announced bids for the Women’s Under-19 tournament. The ICC has also announced an increase of $ 2.6 million in prize money to encourage and promote women’s cricket.
