T20 World Cup Team India Squad: The selectors have announced the Indian Team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, veterans like KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have not been given a place in the Indian team T20 World Cup team, while Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant have also been given a place as wicketkeepers.
The selectors have announced the 15-member team and Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan are included in the team as reserve players.
3 Reasons why India not picking KL Rahul
- KL Rahul has not played any T20 international match since T20 World Cup 2022, which may be an indication that the selectors have moved on from KL Rahul in respect to the shortest format of the game.
- One of the other reasons is the batting position. Ahead of the IPL 2024, there were some reports claiming that Rahul might bat in the middle-order, but Rahul continued to open the innings for Lucknow Super Giants. India already have a settled top order, and India needed a wicket-keeper batter to bat in the middle order, whereas Pant and Samson can bat in the middle order.
- KL Rahul was fighting with Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and some other names for the wicketkeeper’s place. But he was left behind by the excellent form of Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant in IPL 2024. Due to which the selectors did not express confidence.
