Harbhajan Singh recently revealed that he and MS Dhoni have not communicated for over ten years, except for brief discussions during their time as teammates at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In an interview, Harbhajan stated, “No, I don’t speak to Dhoni. When I was playing at CSK, that’s when we spoke, but otherwise, we haven’t spoken. It’s been 10 years and more”.
Despite their successful partnership in the Indian cricket team, including victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, their relationship has significantly deteriorated. Harbhajan noted that he has no personal issues with Dhoni but suggested that there might be unspoken reasons for Dhoni’s silence. He mentioned, “I have no reason; perhaps he does. I don’t know what the reasons are”.
Harbhajan also indicated that he had attempted to reach out to Dhoni a couple of times but ceased after receiving no response. He emphasized that he prefers to maintain relationships with those who reciprocate his efforts: “I only ring up those who pick up my calls… A relationship is always about give and take”.
This acknowledgment of a rift aligns with ongoing speculations about their strained friendship, although neither has publicly detailed the specific causes of their disconnect.
