Ollie Pope is an English cricketer. He was born on 2nd January in 1998. Ollie is a right handed batsman who occasionally play as a wicket keeper batsman.
Domestic Career
Earlier, pope has played club cricket for both Guildford and Cranleigh cricket club and was a member of Surrey age group side. On 26th August in 2016, pope signed two year contract for Surrey. He made first class debut in 2017 for Surrey against Oxford MCCU.
Pope has played 91 first class matches and scored 6600 runs till now with 51.16 batting AVG. In 2017-18, pope was selected for ECB overseas placement program in Australia. In 2019 , he was the highest scoring batsman for Surrey in first class season with 812 runs with average of 106, included 3 century. In 2022, he was bought by Welsh Fire of The hundred league.
International Career
Pope was selected for England squad for the second Test against India at Lord’s in 2018, he made 28 runs in his only knock, as England won by an innings. Later, he was selected for England team against Sri Lanka series. In 2019, he selected for 3rd Ashes test at Headingley. After excellence performance he got selected New Zealand tour, second test at Hamilton, pope made 75 runs in this test.
In 2023, Pope named England vice captain by his incredible performance. June 2023, pope has broken the record for quickest test double hundred to be made in England, reached 200 runs milestone against Ireland. Pope played 39 matches for England and scored 2333 runs with 36.45 average. In 2024 on January, selected for England squad against India five matches test series.
