Daniel Richard Sams, born on October 27, 1992, in Milperra, New South Wales, is an Australian cricketer known for his all-round capabilities. He is a right-handed Batsman and Left-arm fast-medium bowler, primarily recognized for his performances in T20 cricket. Nicknamed “the Karate Kid,” Sams has played for various domestic teams and represented Australia at the international level.
Career Overview
Sams made his first-class debut for Canterbury in New Zealand during the 2017-18 Plunket Shield season. His T20 debut came shortly after for the Sydney Sixers in December 2017, where he made an immediate impact by taking four wickets for just 14 runs, setting a record for the best figures by a debutant in the Big Bash League. He subsequently made his List A debut for New South Wales in the 2018–19 JLT One-Day Cup.
In August 2020, he was picked by Delhi Capitals for the Indian Premier League (IPL), later moving to Royal Challengers Bangalore and then to Mumbai Indians.
