Avesh Khan Domestic & IPL Cricket Career
At the age of 17, Avesh Khan, due to his continuous hard work, soon made a place in the Ranji team of Madhya Pradesh. He made his first-class debut against the Railways team on 7 December 2014 in Delhi. Khan was a part of the Indian team for the Under-19 World Cup held in UAE in 2014. Avesh made his List A debut against Mumbai in the 2017–2018 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2018–2019 Ranji season with 35 wickets in seven matches. In October 2019, he was selected in the India C squad for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy.
In the 2017 IPL auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Avesh Khan for Rs 10 lakh. Avesh made his IPL debut on 14 May 2017 against Delhi Capitals. However, Delhi Capitals bought him for Rs 75 lakh in the 2018 IPL auction and the franchise retained him for the next four seasons.
In the 2022 IPL mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants bought Avesh Khan for Rs 10 crore, which was 50 times his base price. This made him the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. Lucknow Supergiants retained him for the 2023 IPL at a price of Rs 10 crore. Avesh was bought by Rajasthan Royals in 2023 IPL.
Avesh Khan International Cricket Career
January 2021, Avesh Khan was named in the Indian Test squad for the first time as one of the five net bowlers for the series against England. In May 2021, he was selected as one of the four standby players in India’s Test squad for the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final and series against England. Apart from this, he was also named in the Indian T20 team for the series against New Zealand in November 2021. However, he did not get a chance to play in even a single match.
Indian bowler was included in the Indian team for the ODI and T20 series against West Indies in January 2022, but he did not get a chance to play. Avesh was included in the Indian T20 team for the series against Sri Lanka next month. On 20 February 2022, Avesh Khan made his T20 International debut against West Indies. He took his first T20 International wicket in the last T20 match against Sri Lanka. He took two wickets for 23 runs in four overs.
July 2022, Avesh was included in the Indian team for the ODI series against West Indies. Avesh made his ODI debut on 24 July 2022 against West Indies.
