In the group stage match of the T20 World Cup 2024, India scored only 119 runs and still defeated Pakistan by 6 runs. In this match held at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited India to bat first.
The Indian team, which came out with eight batsmen, got its innings wrapped up in the 19th over. In response, the Pakistan team managed to score 113 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 6 runs.
But former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal made a lewd comment on India’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh during the match. Kamran, who was part of ARY News’ cricket panel, mocked Arshdeep about his religion before bowling the last over of the match in New York.
Akmal laughed and said, “Anything can happen… it’s 12 o’clock.” Another guest on the show joked back at Akmal, “No Sikh should bowl an over at 12.” But netizens did not like the joke and criticised the former wicketkeeper-batsman on social media.
After the video went viral, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh replied to Kamran Akmal on Twitter, “Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. You should know the history of sikhs before u open ur filthy mouth. We Sikhs saved ur mothers and sisters when they were abducted by invaders, the time invariably was 12 o’clock . Shame on you…Have some Gratitude”
