#5 Kapil Dev
Former Indian captain and India’s greatest ever test all-rounder Kapil Dev in 1982 made the fourth fastest combined test half-century for India. In a test match against England in 1982, India was playing follow-on given by England, and in the second innings of India Kapil Dev made a half-century in 33 balls. India lost the match but Kapil Dev made 89 runs in 55 balls for India.
#4 Virender Sehwag
The best test openers, Virender Sehwag scored a half-century in just 32 balls in 2008 in Chennai against England. India was chasing a target of 387 runs and Sehwag’s strong start gave a perfect start to India. Sehwag made 83 runs off 68 balls and India also won the game.

Wicketkeeper and middle-order batsman, Rishabh Pant broke Kapil Dev’s 40 years old record of the fastest half-century in test cricket by an Indian against Sri Lanka in the second test at Bangalore in 2022. Rishabh Pant made a half-century in just 28 balls. He scored 7 fours and 2 sixes in a test match. Pant is currently India’s most successful batsman and he is talking out of his prime to the fullest.
