The Indian cricket team‘s tour of Sri Lanka for a limited overs series was cancelled on Thursday. Both boards say that the situation is not yet practical for organizing matches.
Sports Desk- Another series of Indian cricket team has been postponed due to Coronavirus. This month, Team India was to go on a tour of India vs Sri Lanka which was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The Sri Lanka Cricket Association has confirmed this news. Let the Indian team play a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches on the Sri Lanka tour. Team India was to play ODIs and T20 series from 24 June to 11 July in Sri Lanka.
“It is not possible to go ahead with the tour in June-July and we have conveyed it to the Sri Lankan board (SLC). However, we remain committed to the series (at a later date),” BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said.
The cancellation was expected as Indian players are yet to resume training with cases continuing to rise rapidly in the country, which has recorded more than 8,000 Coronavirus deaths and close to three lakh cases.
The next series on Sri Lanka’s schedule was a home Test series against Bangladesh, originally due to be played in 23 July. International cricket, which has been suspended since March, is returning with England hosting West Indies in a behind-closed-doors Test series.
