The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has faced backlash after a video surfaced showing the absence of the Indian flag at Karachi’s National Stadium ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament, which is set to begin on February 19, will see India play all its matches in Dubai due to security concerns and political tensions, leading to speculation that the omission of the Indian flag was a deliberate act by the PCB.
In response to the controversy, a PCB source clarified that only flags of teams participating in matches hosted in Pakistan are being displayed. Since India is not playing any matches in Pakistan, its flag was not hoisted at the stadium. The PCB emphasized that this decision aligns with guidelines from the ICC, which stipulate that only four flags—those of the ICC, PCB, and the two competing teams—should be displayed on match days.

The PCB downplayed the controversy as a product of misinformation aimed at damaging Pakistan’s image. They reiterated that flags for other nations competing in the tournament have been raised to welcome them, while India’s absence is due to its decision to play in Dubai.
