The New York Strikers have become the flagship of the Gulf’s unique cricket tournament Abu Dhabi T10. New York has won this title by defeating Deccan Gladiators. On the basis of an unbeaten partnership of 56 runs between Asif Ali (48 not out) and captain Kieron Pollard (22 not out), New York Strikers defeated Deccan Gladiators by seven wickets in the final match.
Chasing the target of 91 runs, the Strikers scored 94 runs for three wickets in 9.2 overs and won the match with four balls to spare. The pair of Asif and Pollard returned to the pavilion only after winning the match.
Deccan Gladiators made a great start
Batting first, Deccan Gladiators made a great start to their innings. Thanks to the excellent batting of Andre Ruse (30 not out) and David Weiss (20 not out), 91 runs were scored for 5 wickets in 10 overs. Russell hit two fours and as many sixes in his 18-ball innings, while Weiss hit two sixes and one four in 11 balls. Both of them added 34 runs in 17 balls for the sixth wicket. For Deccan Gladiators, Tom Kohler Cadmore added 13 runs while captain Nicholas Pooran added 15 runs.
New York Strikers chased the target with four balls to spare
Playing in reply, New York Strikers achieved the target by losing 3 wickets in 9.2 overs. After the fall of two wickets (Rahmadullah Gurbaz and Mohammad Wasim) for 7 runs, apart from Asif and captain Kieron Pollard, Niroshan Dickwala (14) made important contributions.
