Hat-Tricks in T20 World Cup From 2007 to 2022
We are going to tell you the names of those bowlers who have registered this record by taking hat-tricks in the T20 World Cup from 2007 to 2022.
- The first ever hattrick in the T20 World Cup was taken by one of the fastest bowlers in cricket, Brett Lee of Australia who took hattrick against Bangladesh in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cups. He took the wickets of Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, and Alok Kapali.
- After 14 years of Brett Lee’s hat trick, Ireland’s bowler Curtis Campher took a hat trick against the Netherlands in the 2021 T20 World Cup. He took four wickets in his four consecutive deliveries. He took the wickets of Colin Ackermann, Ryan ten Doeschate, Scott Edwards, and Roelof van der Merwe. To date, Curtis Campher is the only bowler who took four consecutive wickets in T20 World Cups.
- Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka is the third bowler on our list who clinched a hat trick in T20 World Cups. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, South Africa was playing against Sri Lanka. Hasaranga took a hat trick in his second spell. He took the wickets of Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma, and Dwaine Pretorius.
- In the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup, there were three hat tricks registered in the tournament. It was South Africa’s legendary fast bowler, Kagiso Rabada who took fourth hat trick of the T20 World Cups and third of the 2021 edition against England. In the final over of the match, Rabada took the wickets of Chris Woakes, Eoin Morgan, and Chris Jordan to complete his hat trick and win the game for his country.
- Karthik Meiyappan of UAE became the first associate player to take a hat trick in the T20 World Cups. In the 2022 edition in Australia, the UAE was playing against Sri Lanka. In the 15th over of the match, Karthik took the wickets of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka, and Dasun Shanaka to complete his hat trick.
- Ireland’s left-arm pacer, Joshua Little became the second Irish player to take hat trick in T20 World Cups. He took a hat trick against New Zealand in the 2022 World Cup. Little took the wickets of Kane Williamson, James Neesham, and Mitchell Santner to complete his treble in a Super 12 match against New Zealand.
