ICC on 20th January 2021 announced the men’s ODI team of the year 2021. Like the T20I team in the ODI team too there are no Indians in the team. Pakistan captain Babar Azam is named the captain of the ODI team. Down below is all the information you need to know.
Paul Stirling and Janneman Malan are named as the two openers as Paul Stirling of Ireland have 885 runs with three centuries in ODIs in 2021. Janneman Malan of South Africa also has a fantastic ODI year. At No.3 it is Pakistan’s captain and also this team’s captain Babar Azam who has scored 405 runs in only 6 matches.
Middle-order comprising of Fakhar Zaman of Pakistan, Rassie Van Der Dussen of South Africa, and Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Rassie’s 129 runs knock against India in the first ODI shows he is in decent form. Also, Fakhar Zaman had a great year same as Shakib Al Hasan who was effective with both bat and bowl for his team.
The wicketkeeper of the team is Bangladeshi legend, Mushfiqur Rahim. Rahim was the most successful wicketkeeper in ODIs in 2021. The bowling department comprises Sri Lanka’s spinner Wannindu Hasaranga who is also in the T20 team of the year. Pacers included are Dushmantha Chameera of Sri Lanka, Simi Singh of Ireland, and Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh.
