There are only a few days left for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to begin. But the controversies are not stopping. Now the ICC has canceled the captains’ photoshoot before the tournament. Not only this, the opening ceremony has also been canceled. A source from the host cricket board gave this information to PTI on Thursday (30 January 2025).
No photoshoot and press conference
News agency PTI quoted a source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as saying that there will be no photoshoot or press conference of the captains in Pakistan before the start of the Champions Trophy. A PCB source said- Due to the busy schedule and unavailability of the teams, the meeting of the former captains before the tournament was forced to be canceled. The thing is that the schedule of all the teams is very busy before the tournament. England and India are playing limited overs series, while Australia is playing Test and ODI series in Sri Lanka.
According to tradition, the captains of all the participating teams gather for a photo session before the start of the ICC tournament. But this time it will not happen due to the busy schedule.
The current edition of the Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be played from February 19 to March 9 which will be held at three venues in Pakistan and one in Dubai. The first match of the tournament will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand.
