Steve Smith recently scored his 36th Test century in his 206th innings, making him the second-fastest player to reach this milestone.

Ricky Ponting holds the record for the fewest innings to score 36 centuries in Test cricket, achieving this feat in 200 innings. He achieved this feat in 200 innings. Overall, Ponting has scored 41 centuries in Test matches. His first Test century was against England in 1997.
- Steve Smith (Australia) 206 Innings
Steve Smith has become the second-fastest player to score 36 Test centuries, achieving this feat in 206 innings. He reached his 36th Test century during the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. With his 36th century, Smith now jointly holds the fifth position for most Test centuries. At 35 years old, Smith has played 116 Test matches and has four centuries in his last five Tests.
- Kumar Sangakkara (Sri-Lanka) 210 Innings
Kumar Sangakkara is third on the list of batsmen who scored 36 centuries in Test cricket in the fewest innings. He reached this feat in 210 innings. Sangakkara has a total of 38 centuries in Test matches. Sangakkara is seen as one of the greatest cricketers of all time. His 38 Test centuries and 25 in ODIs are the highest by a wicket-keeper.
- Sachin Tendulkar (India) 218 Innings
Sachin Tendulkar is fourth on the list of fastest cricketers to score 36 Test centuries, achieving the milestone in 218 innings. In his career, Sachin Tendulkar scored a total of 51 centuries in Test matches. He played 200 Test matches and batted in 329 innings.

In addition to being the second-fastest to reach 36 Test centuries, Smith’s recent ton was his seventh in Asian conditions, setting a new record for an Australian batter, surpassing Allan Border’s previous record of six. It was also Smith’s fourth century in Sri Lanka, the second-most by a visiting batter, only behind Sachin Tendulkar, who has five.
