India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s father Kiran Pal Singh passed away at his Meerut residence on Thursday. The 63-year-old was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and also had liver ailments but his condition deteriorated two weeks ago.
Kiran Pal Singh, who was working in the police department, had taken voluntary retirement. Kiran Pal, originally from Bhuvneshwar, was posted in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar. His family includes wife Indresh Devi, son Bhuvneshwarand daughter Rekha.
He had cancer last year. After which his chemotherapy was completed in Delhi and Noida. He was feeling well after chemotherapy, but his condition deteriorated again two weeks ago. He was admitted to a nearby hospital near Ganganagar. He was also treated at a hospital in Muzaffarnagar a few days after his condition remained stable.
The death of Bhuvneshwar’s father is a wave of mourning in the cricket world. Fellow players are paying tribute through social media.
Bhuvi, who is currently at home, was not picked for the England tour, which includes the World Test Championship final and a 5-match Test series against hosts England. He is, however, likely to travel with a limited-overs squad to Sri Lanka in July. India’s Test regulars will be in England during the said period, preparing for the 5-Test series.
