Sports Desk – Surrounded by spot-fixing allegations in the Karnataka Premier League, Abhimanyu Mithun on Friday set a unique T20 record with five wickets in six balls against Haryana in the domestic tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament.
Mithun is currently in excellent form and last month he had a hat-trick in List A cricket for Karnataka against Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final and his five-wicket haul in the innings for the first time.
Making his season memorable, Mithun played a key role in Mushtaq Ali’s semi-final match against Haryana on Friday, winning him by eight wickets.
Mithun took a total of five wickets in this match, including a hat-trick. He took a total of five wickets from six balls of the last over and also became the only player to make this record in T20 history.
Mithun conceded 18 runs till the third over and reversed the entire dice in the fourth over so that Haryana, who had scored 192 for three at a time, was already stalled by Mithun’s bowling figures of 200.
Mithun set a new record of T20 cricket with the dismissal of Himanshu Rana on the first ball of the last over, Rahul Tewatia on the second, Sumit Kumar on the third, Amit Mishra on the fourth and Jayant Yadav on the sixth ball.
He has become the second bowler after Lashit Malinga of Sri Lanka to take four wickets in four balls in the same over. It is also interesting that Mithun, who made the T20 record, will be called for questioning in the Karnataka Premier League in the fixing case. He will be interrogated by the Central Crime Branch.
