#5 Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard was the regular white ball captain of the West Indies after the 2019 world cup. But in the middle of the IPL 2022, he announced his retirement from the international cricket at the age of 34. Pollard was the second most capped captain for West Indies in T20Is.

#4 Mithali Raj

The 39-year-old Mithali Raj took retirement in June 2022. She was the most successful player in women’s ODI. She led India in 195 matches and when she took retirement, she was a captain in the ODI format. She passed the captaincy to Harmanpreet Kaur.

#3 Eoin Morgan

It was a bit of a surprise when one of the best white ball captains, Eoin Morgan of England took retirement from international cricket. Morgan is the most capped captain in both ODIs and T20Is for England. Morgan led England to their maiden world cup in 2019. He took retirement in June 2022 and at that time he was England’s ODI captain.

#2 Aaron Finch

Australian T20 world cup winning captain, Aaron Finch is also one of the most successful captains in world cricket. Finch took retirement from ODIs and he is now captain of only T20 format. Finch was captain when he announced his retirement from the ODIs. His ODI career includes 17 centuries and 145 international matches.

#1 MS Dhoni

It was a shock when out of nowhere, MS Dhoni announced his retirement from the longest format of the game on 30 December 2014 after the 3rd test match against Australia. Dhoni was captain of all three formats at that time and to focus on limited overs cricket he passed his captaincy to Virat Kohli in the longest format.
