India’s Paralympic records are far better than Olympic records. Indian Paralympic athletes have always shown their character on the big stage. The 2024 Paris Paralympics is India’s most successful Paralympic tournament. In this article, we will tell you how many medals has India won in the Paralympics.

India won 57 medals in Paralympic games. They won 15 gold, 21 silver, and 21 bronze medals in different categories and events. The Paralympics started in 1960 and since then, India has been a very active member of the tournaments. They have participated in 12 different editions of the tournament. The 2024 Paris Paralympics is marked as India’s most successful Paralympics. 

Here is the list of medals of India in each Paralympics.

  1. 1972 – Thefirst Paralympics medal of India came in 1972 which was a Gold in swimming.
  2. 1984 – The1984 Paralympics which were held in New York turned out to be a great Paralympics for India as India won 4 medals, 2 silver, and 2 bronze in the tournament.
  3. 2004 – In the 2004 Athens Paralympics, India won two medals. One bronze and one gold.
  4. 2012 – In the 2012 London Paralympics, India won only one silver medal.
  5. 2016 – In 2016 India again managed to win 4 medals. Two golds, one silver, and one bronze.
  6. 2020 – In 2020 India registered their second-best Paralympics record where they won 20 medals including three golds, 7 silvers, and 10 bronze.
  7. 2024 – In the Paris 2024 Paralympics, India is doing wonders as they won 26 medals so far. Six gold, 9 silver, and 11 bronze.
