Indian Paralympics shuttler, Nitesh Kumar created history in Paris after he won the second gold medal for India in the 2024 Paralympics. Nitesh Kumar is a perfect example of what a man can achieve with determination and willpower. In this article, we will tell you everything about Nitesh Kumar.

Nitesh Kumar who won the gold medal in the 2024 Paris Paralympics in the SL3 singles category created history. He defeated Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell in the SL3 category of men’s singles. In this category players with disability in lower limbs participate. Nitesh defeated Daniel in the 1st and 3rd sets to win the game by 2-1. It is India’s second gold medal in the 2024 Paralympics and second gold medal in the men’s badminton category in the SL3 category. It was Pramod Bhagat who won gold in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

Nitesh Kumar was born in Bas Kirtan in Rajasthan but currently living in Karnal, Haryana. His father was a naval officer in the Indian Navy. Looking to follow in his father’s footsteps, Nitesh also aspires to be a navy officer but things took an ugly turn in 2009 when he lost his left leg in a train accident in Vishakhapatnam. Nitesh then decided to fight for the IIT examinations and he got selected for IIT Mandi where he found his interest in Badminton.

In 2017 he made his international debut and won the Irish Para Badminton tournament. He also took a job as a coach in Haryana in 2019. Despite pursuing his job as a coach, he also won three medals in the 2022 Asian Para Games in which he won two golds and one silver. All his hard work and determination paid off in the 2024 Paralympics where he won the gold medal in his category.
