Head coach Hansi Flick highlighted the team’s resilience, stating, “The most positive thing was the mentality we had; we came back and it’s wonderful, this is football.” He admitted never experiencing such a comeback before. Benfica posed a significant challenge, forcing Barcelona to defend deeply throughout the match.
Tensions flared at full-time as both teams clashed on the field. Raphinha revealed that some Benfica players insulted him due to frustration over an unpenalized incident involving Fermin Lopez before his winning goal. “I am a person who respects everyone,” Raphinha said. “When I left the field there were people who insulted me.”
Raphinha acknowledged taking insults but made it clear that he respects people if they return the favour. Although he acknowledged that feelings were running high following such a fierce game, he firmly opposed opponents’ disrespectful actions. As he defends himself when needed, the winger stays committed to upholding professionalism.
