Mohamed Salah scored in the first half of Liverpool’s convincing 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon, continuing his incredible play. For Arne Slot’s team, who are certain to finish first in the standings going into February ahead of Arsenal and company, the 32-year-old Egyptian forward has been scorching in front of goal this season.
Against struggling Ipswich, Salah scored his 23rd goal in all competitions in a short amount of time. It turns out that this most recent goal is particularly memorable.
That’s because, since joining the Reds in 2017, Salah has scored 100 Premier League goals at Anfield. Additionally, he has moved up to seventh position overall, pushing past Thierry Henry in the all-time Premier League scoring charts.
His goal followed goals from Dominik Szobszlai and the highly effective Cody Gakpo, giving the Reds a 3-0 lead over Ipswich, who sit at the bottom of the Premier League standings, going into halftime.
The team most likely to challenge Liverpool for the domestic title between now and May is Arsenal, as Manchester City is no longer in the frame for the title. However, they entered the half with no goals against Wolves and one man down following Myles Lewis-Skelly’s contentious red card.
Arsenal found a way to win 1-0 at Molineux to stay in the running for the title, even though Liverpool increased their lead to 4-1 after the half.
As the last few months of the 2024–25 season get near, Liverpool is still in a great position as they are six points ahead of Arsenal with one game remaining.

While Salah set new records, it was Gakpo who grabbed the headlines by continuing his own fine form with two goals and an assist. Speaking post-match, he said: “I really do love scoring here but the most important thing was the win today.”
He added: “Obviously we grow as a team. It’s one year more [from last season]. We have a different manager, a slightly different style of play – more possession based.
“Everyone is in good form but we have to keep going.”
