US Open 2020 HIGHLIGHTS : Victoria Azarenka defeated Serena Williams 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the final of her third US Open. Azarenka has been runner-up to the US Open twice.
Now, after reaching the finals, Azarenka will be eyeing the US Open Grand Slam for the first time. With this, Azarenka has also avenged the old defeat at the hands of Serena.
Talking about the semi-finals, Serena Williams was seen in the best form in the first set. Serena did not give Azarenka any chance in the first set and won the first set 6–1. But Azarenka made a great comeback in the second set and defeated Serena 6-3. In the third set too, Azarenka prevailed over Serena and clinched her place in the final by winning the set 6-3.
Azarenka also showed great form in the quarter-final match. This player defeated the Martens 6–1, 6–0 to advance to the semi-finals. Earlier, Azarenka had reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slan in 2013.
Earlier, Serena and Azarenka were seen in the US Open 2012 and 2013 semifinal matches. Serena made it to the finals by beating Azarenka both times. Azarenka will now face Naomi Osaka in the final.
