Manager Pep Guardiola gave Kevin De Bruyne a thorough cleaning when he returned to Manchester City training on Tuesday sporting a new appearance.

The Belgium captain was back at the City Football Academy this week with several teammates after being granted time off after the Euro 2024 and Copa America campaigns, despite all the rumours pointing to a potential move to Saudi Arabia.

However, De Bruyne’s striking physical transformation attracted attention right away.

The former Chelsea and Wolfsburg midfielder had grown out and styled his hair back when he made his long-awaited comeback from surgery on his hamstring injury last season.

However, he’s now sporting a top knot, and when he got out of his car and entered the building, everybody noticed right away.

It’s possible that De Bruyne and Erling Haaland won’t be wearing matching ponytails in the Premier League because he stated that he needed to “cut my hair”.

Guardiola also expressed his opinions about De Bruyne’s most recent look quite clearly. “You have to explain to me this hair!” the 53-year-old exclaimed, grinning, as he welcomed the returning players.

A significant number of City’s first-team players were absent on the US tour. However, they have now received a major boost ahead of their Community Shield matchup with Manchester United on Saturday.
