Jeffrey Vandersay was the reason behind Sri Lanka’s success in the second ODI against India. He single-handedly turned the game in Sri Lanka’s favour. In this article, we will tell you everything about Jeffrey Vandersay.

Jeffrey Vandersay of Sri Lanka who is a 34-year-old spinner was playing against India in the second T20I at Colombo. Vandersay was given the Man of the Match award for his brilliant spell against India. India was chasing a target of 241 where they were in a very strong position of 97-0. Vandersay took 6 consecutive wickets, reducing them to 147-6. India lost the game from that position and Vandersay won the match for his team.

Vandersay registered his best ODI figures in that match and he also bowled the third-best bowling spell by a spinner against India after Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis. In his 10 overs spell, he took 6 wickets and gave only 33 runs. He took wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer.

Vandersay made his debut in 2015 in a T20I match against Pakistan in Colombo. Vandersay played 14 T20I matches in his career where he took 7 wickets and scored 20 runs. He made his ODI debut against New Zealand in 2015, in 22 ODIs he took 33 wickets. Vandersay has also played 1 test match for his team against Australia in 2022 in Galle where he took 1 wicket.
