Monank Patel is the captain of the USA cricket team. He is leading the home team USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Monank played a huge role in bringing the USA’s cricket to the international level. The 31-year-old wicketkeeper batsmen created one of the best moments in the history of USA cricket when the USA won against 2009 World Cup winners Pakistan.
In the second match of the group stage, USA defeated Pakistan in Dallas. Monank Patel was named the man of the match for his 50 off 38 balls that helped the USA to win the crucial game in the super over.
Patel was born in Anand, Gujarat in May 1993. He played for under-16 and under-19 cricket in Gujarat before shifting to the USA. He later on got the Green card which allowed him to move to the USA in 2016 permanently. In the 2018 T20 Americas Qualifiers, Monank Patel was the highest run-getter in the tournament which earned him a place in the USA national team. In 2021 he was given captaincy of the USA team. He scored the first century for the USA against Oman and then Nepal.

In total, the 31-year-old captain of the USA team played 72 matches 47 ODIs and 25 T20Is. He made 1887 runs including ten half centuries and two centuries. His best innings of 130 came against Ireland in June 2022. Innings against Ireland was best in terms of runs but when it comes to value and impact his 50 off 38 against Pakistan was special for so many reasons.
