Eden Hazard, at his old club Lille, opened a new training pitch and came up with a unique set of rules.
Eden Hazard, who just inaugurated a new training ground for his old club Lille, introduced three amusing regulations.
Hazard, who was 32 at the time, withdrew from football in October following the mutually beneficial termination of his contract with Real Madrid.
After a lackluster season at Real Madrid, where he scored just seven goals in 76 games and was beset by ailments, the former captain of Belgium saw his career come to an unhappy conclusion.
However, Lille, one of his first workplaces, praised his gaming accomplishments. Hazard made his Lille debut in 2007 and appeared in 194 games, contributing 50 assists and 53 goals.
Before making his huge move to Chelsea, he led Lille to a historic league and cup double in the 2010–11 season, winning two Ligue One Player of the Year honours.
Lille named a pitch at the Domaine de Luchin facility in honour of what he accomplished for them. Hazard made a moving comeback to the team and attended Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Rennes.
However, prior to that, he declared the game open and presented three standard rules for the participants who would be playing.
He said: “I only have one thing to say. This is the Eden Hazard pitch. So no gym, no running. Only playing football and breaking ankles.”
Hazard has a bad reputation for being a careless trainer who didn’t give it his all or take care of himself. Nonetheless, throughout his illustrious career, he made many defenders seem foolish thanks to his extraordinary natural skill.
In a recent interview with L’Equipe, Hazard talked candidly about his lifestyle decisions, saying he would “let himself” go every summer.
He explained: “I’m a bon vivant, I like to eat, with friends, we have a drink.
“With Chelsea I’d just finished one of the best seasons of my career. I said to myself, ‘now that I’m at Real Madrid, this is perhaps the last vacation I’ll be able to take…’
“And I let go of myself like I let go of myself every summer. Seven years in England, without a break at Christmas, giving everything, so when I have three or four weeks of vacation, ‘don’t bother me’ barbecues, rosé wine… all that.
“And that’s what allowed me to reset myself to start again. Then, Real, it went wrong and that’s it.”
