Manchester United are said to be in pole position to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat

The Morocco international is presently training alone at his Italian club, and he has been left out of their team for Thursday’s Europa Conference League playoff first leg against Rapid Vienna.

Meanwhile, Amrabat was an unused substitute in Fiorentina’s Serie A opener against Genoa last weekend, with the 27-year-old attempting to leave before the deadline.

Man United have been widely connected with the midfielder in recent weeks, but there is ambiguity about a deal, with the Red Devils reportedly wanting to move certain players on before bringing him to Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool, who had been rumored to be interested, have dropped out of the competition, leaving the Red Devils in command.

According to the report, £30 million would be enough to sign him, but Erik ten Hag’s side would need to make at least one more large sell to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.

Donny van de Beek, Eric Bailly, and Scott McTominay are among the players rumored to be leaving the club.

Harry Maguire recently turned down a move to West Ham United, but there is still talk that the centre-back could leave before the end of the season.

Jonny Evans is reportedly close to signing a one-year contract, which would provide centre-back cover for Maguire’s departure and free up finances for Amrabat.

Man United’s need for a new midfielder has been exacerbated by the fact that Mason Mount is certain to miss time due to an injury suffered against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Fiorentina are thought to have set a Friday deadline for any offers for Amrabat, as the Italian club wants to ensure they have enough time to bring in a replacement.

Despite the speculation, Serie A club director Daniele Prade recently stated that no approaches had been made for the Moroccan, with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona also believed to be interested.

The midfielder helped his country reach the World Cup semi-finals in 2022, while he was in fine form for Fiorentina last season, making 49 games in all competitions and helping his club reach the finals of the Europa Conference League and Coppa Italia.
