England faced Denmark in their semi-final match of UEFA Euro 2020.
The second semi-final match of UEFA EURO 2020 was played between England and Denmark. The former defeated their opponent 2-1 on final score.
The first goal of the match was scored by Mikkel Damsgaard in 30th minute through a stunning free-kick from outside the box. This was the first direct free-kick goal in European Championship since 2000 (scored by Zinedine Zidane).
The second goal was an own goal netted by the Danish captain Simon Kjaer in 39th minute. The score ended 1-1 after full 90 minutes.
In the extra time, Raheem Sterling’s dive gave England a penalty. Kasper Schmeichel saved it but Harry Kane netted the ball on rebound.
The final score was 2-1 to England. Was Denmark robbed? There are two reasons that the game was rigged.
First, there were two balls on the field when Sterling dive for the penalty. Second, a laser was light on the face of Kasper Schmeichel before the penalty was to be taken.
Denmark may have lost the tournament but most importantly, they gave a tough fight to every team they faced in these Euros.
England will face Italy in the final.
